10 May Barrenjoey appoints two new Directors to its Board
Barrenjoey Capital Partners today announced two new directors to be appointed to its board: Former Federal Cabinet Minister, Kelly O’Dwyer, and Barrenjoey’s General Counsel.
Barrenjoey CEO, Brian Benari, said: “We approved the Board’s Terms of Reference at our first meeting in March and are now reconstituting the directorship to bring a balance of internal and independent directors. As a result, we are delighted to welcome Kelly and Annette. They both bring a diverse set of leadership expertise that will be integral to Barrenjoey’s future success.”
Barrenjoey’s Non-Executive Chair, David Gonski, added: “Balance in terms of skills, background and perspectives is critical to any board. We are thrilled with the appointment of two outstanding individuals who will be responsible for overseeing the effective supervision and governance of Barrenjoey.”
The new directors join David Gonski (Non-Executive Chair), Barclays Global Head of Banking, Paul Compton, Magellan Financial Group CEO, Brett Cairns, and Barrenjoey founding partners Guy Fowler (Executive Chair), Brian Benari (CEO), and John Cincotta (Group Chief Operating Officer).
Kelly O’Dwyer
Kelly is a non-executive director of ASX listed Home Consortium and Equity Trustees. She previously served as a member of Federal Cabinet and Cabinet’s Expenditure Review Committee holding a number of senior economic portfolios including Minister for Jobs and Industrial Relations and Minister for Women; Minister for Revenue and Financial Services; Assistant Treasurer; Minister for Small Business; as well as Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Public Service. She has also worked in law and finance.
Annette Spencer
Annette Spencer, General Counsel, Barrenjoey
Annette is Barrenjoey’s General Counsel. She has over 25 years of financial services experience working in Singapore, the US and Australia. Prior to joining Barrenjoey in 2020, Annette spent 23 years at UBS as General Counsel. Her expertise spans the full range of investment banking products and services as well as wealth advisory, corporate governance, market conduct, regulatory and workplace matters. She is a Member of ASIC Financial Services and Credit Panel.
