Fraud Alert
Barrenjoey has been made aware of a scam currently underway where members of the public are being approached by individuals fraudulently representing themselves as our employees to pitch fake investment schemes. This offer is supported by fake marketing materials that make unauthorised use of Barrenjoey’s corporate branding.
Barrenjoey does not offer investment products to members of the public and does not have any connection to anyone offering these products.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind Australians to be vigilant at all times when contacted by an unknown party offering investment opportunities. If you receive an email or message that claims to be from Barrenjoey, but looks suspicious, please forward it, along with any attachments to infosec@barrenjoey.com.

Everything you need to know
About the program

Through a series of case studies based on real-life transactions, we will challenge you to research, solve problems, think critically, and demonstrate commercial judgement –just like we do at Barrenjoey every day.

The Program is structured in three rounds:

      1. Application: CV and academic transcript submission.

      2. First Round: Short case study response followed by a 15-minute Q&A on your submission (virtual).

      3. Final Round: Group case study assessment, individual interviews and networking opportunities at Barrenjoey’s Sydney office.

Who is this program for?

Are you interested in corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, and capital markets?

Do you want to experience what it’s like to work on a real life corporate finance transaction?

Would you like to learn more about life at Barrenjoey?

We invite penultimate (second last) and final year students from any Australian university to apply. The Program is designed so that students in any degree or major can participate, not just those studying finance.

What's on offer?

Finalists will be invited to Barrenjoey’s Sydney office to participate in a final group case study and interviews, meet our team, experience life at Barrenjoey and win the opportunity to be fast-tracked through our Corporate Finance Intern or Graduate recruitment processes (as applicable).

Those chosen to take part in Barrenjoey’s Internship or Graduate Programs will also receive the Barrenjoey Future Principals Program scholarship, which includes ongoing mentorship from the Barrenjoey team and payments as follows:

    • Penultimate students: A$2,500 payment for those who commence as interns and a further A$2,500 for those who commence as graduates following their internship

    • Final year students: A$2,500 payment for those who commence as graduates

What is a Principal?

At Barrenjoey we don’t believe in multiple rank based layers or grades they constrain high performers. There are only two levels at Barrenjoey: Principal and Partner.

What happens after I submit my initial application?

The Barrenjoey team will review applications and email all applicants with an outcome. Successful applicants will be invited to participate in the First Round and will receive the First Round case study and instructions.

How will the case studies be assessed?

The Barrenjoey team will judge the case study responses and Q&A on a range of criteria, including content quality, strategic and creative thinking capability, presentation skills and communication skills. Further details on assessment criteria will be disclosed in the instructions of each round.
