Fraud Alert
Barrenjoey has been made aware of a scam currently underway where members of the public are being approached by individuals fraudulently representing themselves as our employees to pitch fake investment schemes. This offer is supported by fake marketing materials that make unauthorised use of Barrenjoey’s corporate branding.
Barrenjoey does not offer investment products to members of the public and does not have any connection to anyone offering these products.
We would like to take this opportunity to remind Australians to be vigilant at all times when contacted by an unknown party offering investment opportunities. If you receive an email or message that claims to be from Barrenjoey, but looks suspicious, please forward it, along with any attachments to infosec@barrenjoey.com.
To learn more about protecting yourself from scams, please visit the ACCC’s Scamwatch Website.
If you suspect you are a victim of fraud, please report scams involving a financial product to the Australian Securities & Investments Commission (“ASIC”) using the online reporting tool on ASIC’s website here, or to your local police.

Meet Our Team

Barry Sharkey

Capital Markets

What’s your role at Barrenjoey?

I work in our Corporate Finance division, with a specific focus on helping to grow our Capital Markets team. We provide advice to corporate, government and other institutional clients on a broad range of capital markets and financing transactions.
I’m also a member of the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. We’re finalising our key priorities in this area, but the overall objective is clear – we want Barrenjoey to be a workplace where everyone is respected, included and valued.

What attracted you to the firm?

It’s rare to see a brand new, locally owned, full service financial services firm being built.
I was keen to be involved from the beginning – based on the calibre and character of the leadership group, and the global partnership with Barclays.

What did you do before joining?

Prior to joining the firm in 2021, I worked at UBS for 15 years, after starting my career as a web designer and corporate lawyer (yes, this makes no sense).
